Austria – Karin Schäfer “Conference”

Alongside her festival presentation of Crazy Old Me, Austrian artist Karin Schäfer will also offer a special lecture performance as part of the 27^th Istanbul International Puppet Festival.

Schäfer is an internationally acclaimed puppeteer whose award-winning productions have been presented in 45 countries worldwide. She is also the founder and artistic director of the International Puppet Theatre Festival PannOpticum in Neusiedl am See, Austria.

In this one-hour program, she introduces puppetry as a rich and versatile form of artistic expression. Using puppets of all kind and styles from her different productions, Schäfer will demonstrate fundamental aspects of the art form – including a variety of puppetry techniques, performance styles, and approaches to staging. Short scenes will bring the figures to life and illustrate how different methods create distinct atmospheres and narratives.

The session will conclude with an open discussion, offering participants the chance to ask questions and exchange ideas directly with the artist.
